BBQ and Bonfire

Saturday was spent with more friends and food. We went to Amelia's house in Potrero Hill. Her place was awesome. She lives there by herself. It's small, but it's perfect for one person. The living room has a cool fireplace from the 70s in it and the bathroom is on the second floor with a great view of the city. She has a deck and a backyard to host a little shindig. I made guacamole, brought salsa and chips. Sean bought the hamburgers and buns. Amelia had hot dogs. Mark had his tofurkey dogs. It was just fun to sit around and hang out.

Later around 7, we went to the beach to watch the sunset and make a bonfire. My friend, Sunish, was there too. I wasn't expecting him since I didn't know he was working for Apple in Cupertino. He's also friends with Sean's co-workers, Mark and Luke. They're classmates. It was windy down by the beach, but it died down an hour or so later. The bonfire kept up toasty and warm.

We met this couple, Kara and Neil. They both swam the English Channel and practiced for it in the bay. We sang them our "We got a pit" song and they were delighted. It was just a great night. We went back to Amelia's later on and hung out until 3:30 am. We dropped Seth home and went home ourselve. What a long night!

On Sunday, Sean and I were having a day to ourselves. Ty was hanging out with Amelia, Seth, and Mark. They were going to go to Twin Peak, but the day was not clear or sunny. They ended up hanging out around the Mission and Amelia's. Sean and I went grocery shopping, grabbed Japanese food, cleaned our room, started the laundry, and watched Fool's Gold. When Ty came back the guys were playing Halo while I uploaded pictures on Facebook and read my book. What a great weekend.

A view near Twin Peaks. Ahead is a 17% graded street. It was steep!

The Castro is a very prominent gay neighborhood.
There are tons of rainbow flags in this area.

One of the old street cars.

Parking the car on a huge hill. Nice view though.

The incline is ridiculous.

What it looks like inside. I was scared to get out of the car.

Sitting around in Amelia's backyard. Nice.

Seth, Mark, and Sean.

Sean and I.

Ah, Amelia's little IKEA grill.

Ty breaking out the buns.

They're actually standing straight.

Yes, you can get donuts, teriyaki, and hamburgers at the same place.

Sunset down by Ocean Beach.

Sunish, Ty, Michelle, and Luke by the bonfire.

Seth, Mark, and Michelle.
The red blanket is Amelia, she hunkered down from the wind in a very cozy fleece blanket.

Mark and Sean.

Sunish telling stories around the bonfire.

Patti, again thanks for the updates and pictures. It's great to see you guys even if it is just in pictures!

Ty, you look awesome, lots of color so the beach must be great!

Sean, I called you yesterday and still have not heard back or received an email response, so seeing you in pictures at least let's me know that you are still out in CA. You look great! But it does sound like you are working very hard (12 hour days!)...

See you soon. Love, Mom McD

Oh, by the way, any chance you could send me some pictures off the blog? Or others. When I try to use them the quality is really bad.

Thanks! Mom McD (8/5/08)
